Meet The LEAP Team

Genavie Stevens

Genavie Stevens is mother of 6 and a homeschooling veteran. She has been homeschooling for over 10 years. She spent 5 years as a road schooling mom as her family traveled the United States. Genavie's never-ending love of learning has led to many different classes and certifications. She is a certified esthetician, a certified lactation educator and a certified postpartum doula. She is a small business owner.

Jennifer Mercer

Jennifer Mercer has been teaching for over 30 years in one form or another- middle school/junior high public and private schools, educational therapy, private learning consultant, teacher training at the university level, Girl Scout mentoring and more.  These days she can be found joyfully learning with the 5th-8th grade group in the Home Learning Community at Innovations Academy, as well as teaching high school classes, tutoring and providing Positive Discipline workshops through Learning Journeys Forum.  She homeschooled both of her daughters from kinder through junior year of high school and calls her style “eclectic SelfDesignTM”. She is excited to be part of the LEAP Homeschool Conference team because it gives her a chance to reach more homeschooling families to provide resources, support and community!

Jill Pearson-Keltner

Jill has been teaching for over 30 years, as high school English teacher, woodworking teacher, gymnastics coach, Iyengar yoga teacher, homeschooling mom, and more.  Presently, she facilitates and joyfully learns with 2nd – 4th grade homeschoolers in the Home Learning Community at Innovations Academy.  She also teaches high school classes through Learning Journeys Forum, and is enjoying her final year as homeschooling mom to her youngest son, a high school senior.  Jill loves working with the LEAP Homeschool Conference team.  She is excited to create a San Diego event where homeschoolers can come together to celebrate community, share wisdom, and support each other!

Teresa Draguicevich

Teresa Draguicevich has been teaching for at least 30 years in public and private school settings. These days, she finds great joy in supporting families in the Home Learning Community at Innovations Academy and spending time co-designing learning experiences in class with kinder and first graders. She also teaches Young Authors Book Club and provides Positive Discipline workshops through Learning Journeys Forum. She homeschooled both of her boys; but not for as long as she would have liked, and feels that with a community of support she would have started sooner. That’s why she is excited to be part of the LEAP team. If attending this conference inspires one family to take the LEAP and start homeschooling or provides support for another to continue the journey in the face of societal obstacles, then it will have been a success!

Gerri Alexander

When Gerri began homeschooling 35 years ago, relatives warned that her kids would never go to college or get jobs.  The oldest learned Spanish when he worked at an orphanage in Mexico for 2 years. The next got his PhD from Ohio State and works in finance in New York. The oldest girl has a MA from UCSD and teaches at a public school in Sacramento, while the younger girl graduated from Miramar College and is an account clerk for the County of San Diego. Gerri currently homeschools the youngest, a 9th grader, while working part time as a Library Assistant for the San Diego Public Library and being the Chairman of San Diego Christian Homeschools.

Amy Lint

Amy Lint is a local homeschooling mom who envisioned an inclusive, comprehensive accessible and affordable homeschooling conference for our San Diego homeschooling community.  She served as the catalyst to get LEAP going and advised the team through the beginning stages of planning. We are so thankful that she had the vision to help move us forward!
